Chaotic Explosion, Sabah

Residents here, in Sabah and around Temburong in Brunei had the fright of their lives when they saw bright lights and smoke in the night sky that lasted for about two hours early yesterday morning. It was believed that the incident was caused by explosion from the underground Sabah-Sarawak gas pipeline (SSGP) at 1.58am. According to Limbang fire chief Anuar Shazat Merdzuki, the explosion occurred at Bukit Beriwan, quite a distance away from the nearest settlement area. “A total of six personnel in two fire engines led by Lawas Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohamad Shamlie Radae rushed to the scene around 1.59am after we received a distress call from the nearby villagers,” he said when contacted yesterday. He said the team only arrived at the location at 3.38am as it was far and they had to go through a logging road. Upon arriving at the scene, he said the team discovered that the fire had been successfully put under control by a firefighting team from Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and because it was raining when the explosion occurred. He added that the team took speedy action by closing the pipeline to stop further explosions. “Although the fire was fully under control by 3.48am, we still had to cordon off the area to prevent the public from going into the area,” he said. He revealed that his department with the cooperation of Petronas would form an investigation team to inspect and determine the cause of the explosion. Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd confirmed in a press statement issued by Petronas Sarawak Regional Office that the fire occurred at the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) around 2am yesterday.

The incident occurred at a location of the SSGP in Lawas district, about 135km from the Sabah Oil & Gas Terminal in Kimanis, Sabah, which is the starting point of the pipeline. Petronas assured that the fire had been extinguished and no injury was reported. It said the incident did not affect any of the communities along the pipeline, the closest of which is located 9km away from the incident area. The statement added that the authorities have been informed and an investigation on the incident is being carried out. Meanwhile, Lawas acting police chief ASP Mutang Nawat said the explosion was believed to be caused by gas leakage from the pipeline. He confirmed that there was no report of fatality or injuries. However, according to a source, the explosion damaged an area of about 300 metres in radius and caused minor injuries to two oil palm plantation workers while they were patrolling on a motorcycle. The source also said the motorcycle was completely burned. Responding to the explosion, Ba Kelalan assemblyman Baru Bian held a press conference in Kuching yesterday calling for a thorough investigation into the explosion of a gas pipeline near Long Lesina early yesterday. Baru said he received several calls from concerned villagers, including those from Long Remirang and Kampung Tunas Baru.

“Everybody was shocked by the huge explosion this morning (yesterday) from a gas pipeline, some thought it was the end of the world. “So, it is hoped that the authorities, Petronas in particular, would carry out a thorough investigation to find out the reason and make the findings public.” The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) state chief claimed villagers were running helter-skelter following the explosion, adding that the fire could be seen from as far as Lawas. “The people are now very worried because the gas is believed to be toxic and hazardous to their health and even may cause death,” he said. Baru also questioned the safety of the pipeline, saying Long Barayung, Long Tuyo, Long Sukang and Long Berunut, which are also located near it, have a population of over 2,000.

Yasmine, Brunei's FIRST CHAOTIC FEATURE FILM!

I stumbled upon a post on Facebook a friend of mine posted and it directed me to this page called Yasmine. I was surprised when I found out that it is a Bruneian movie that is currently on production and YES! Brunei's very first feature film! Cool! The film is currently being directed by Bruneian director Siti Kamaluddin and she is teaming up with Hong Kong’s renowned action director Stephen Tung Wei and Chan Man Ching, and Indonesia’s no.1 screenwriter Salman Aristo.



No details about the film has been posted so far, all we know is that the film is about a young girl’s dream of becoming a martial arts champion

Chaos happened in Britain on the Asda stores and there was an injuries, arrests and ugly squabbles over discount goods. Asda opened some of its stores at 8am, leading desperate shoppers to snatch item off the shelves in seconds and fight among themselves.

But there were other incidents that made the night more eventful than some would like when an officer was hit by a car and suffered a broken leg and a suspicious package was found in the Blue Cross Blue Shield parking structure. It was the second suspicious package found at a BCBS facility.

Choas Food Court at The Mall Gadong

A FIRE which broke out at the food court in The Mall Gadong has forced an immediate shutdown of the building as per stated at The Brunei Times newspaper yesterday.



Some employees working at the Food Court was in chaotic condition had said that they still have food that had not been sold and will suffer losses of at least $800 notwithstanding the property that was damaged during the incident.



As for now, it is still under investigation what is the cause for the incident.

Chaotic Fans for Beckham in Shanghai

The football superstar's planned visit later in the day to Tonju University would be a little more eventful. But the news that i read didn't expect that it to be quite so dramatic.

Beckham was touring a faculty building, but a sizable crowd of mostly students had already gathered outside. They were held back by a flimsy police line at the end of the road. I suspected there was no way the police could keep the crowd from getting closer. Sure enough, they didn't. Beckham was supposed to have a kickabout with some under-15 footballers from a local Shanghai club youth team. The pitch was about 50 metres from the faculty building, but as soon as fans saw his black Bentley they stormed the meager police line and surrounded his car. The police were not happy.

After that, chaos ensued.

Here was one of the world’s most famous people and suddenly his car is completely surrounded by fans. Somehow, Beckham’s handlers had to get him out and onto the football pitch. This is the ludicrous bit. They pull up to a gate in the tall metal fence, open it and Beckham steps out. He is ushered onto the pitch. The fans, of course, follow.

I could see people pushed up against the fence with nowhere go. Suddenly, as the crowd surged, people were falling to the ground, but others kept coming and trampled over them. I could see people were in distress, people squashed like that don’t last long. I saw a policewoman who obviously took the full weight of the crowd and was lying face down. When they picked her up there was a pool of blood coming out of her nose and mouth. I hope she's OK. The rest of the planned events were cancelled, of course. This could have turned out a lot worse but thankfully it didn't. With a bit more anticipation, it wouldn't have happened at all.

Luckily, the passenger did not get any injuries but only there were accidents occurs. Few minutes later, Royal Brunei Police Force take action for the accident.

Reminder for our lovely Bruneian Drivers out there, drive safe and think wisely if there is any incident happen like this again. Think for the one you love and please NO CELLPHONE during driving :)

It was a chaotic scene on the “Maleficent” red carpet Wednesday night when a man rushed Brad Pitt and hit him in the face. Pitt was signing autographs at fiancée Angelina Jolie’s Hollywood premiere when a man jumped over a barricade, tried to hug the star and then struck him in the face. The suspect is 25 year old Vitalii Suduik, a Ukranian journalist and serial prankster, who allegedly tried to crawl under America Ferrera’s dress at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this month. The troublemaker is also known for harassing LeonardoDiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and Will Smith.

Police booked Suduik for misdemeanor battery. His bail was set at $20,000.
